CAN YOU COUNT TO ONE? Date: (Wednesday, January 14, 2009)
Red Deer, AB – After Monday night’s loss to a team that includes a pair of dentists, Team Keith’s was reaching for more than their toothbrushes after the game. Although the game left them feeling as though they had a mouthful of cavities the team knew they let one get away. Team Keith’s allowed the dentists to steal single points in 4 of the 8 ends en route to a 7-5 victory. Like a script from a Stephen King horror novel the dentists broke into the house, threw some shots, and used their brooms as weapons only to steal point after point and leave their victim lying helplessly on the ice wondering what had happened (not literally, but that’s how Team Keith’s felt). Team Keith’s had the chance to score 2 points in both the 3rd and 4th but the dentists capitalized on some missed opportunities to get singles of their own. If not for a couple of missed shots each end, this game was within reach for Team Keith’s.
Alexander Keiths Speaks: Team Keith’s record drops to 3-6-1 and the team has now lost 3 in a row after winning 3 straight…It was the first time this year (2009) the Fab four played together…They shared in chicken fajitas prior to the game at the Metzger estate in Anders…Lead English was heard complaining that she smelt like chicken fajita during the game…English and Third K.Zimmerman were overheard talking about weddings, shopping and other topics deemed to be ‘pink’ discussion items, that are better left for an episode of Oprah and not the curling rink…Metzger wonders if that caused a lack of focus on the part of the ladies…In follow up to last week’s story, K.Zimmerman has confirmed that she has been struggling with morning sickness and nausea as side effects to her recently announced pregnancy…She is due in July 2009, but confirms that she will be in the lineup for the 2010 Curling season…Second G.Zimmerman confirmed he is excited to become a dad and if the baby is a boy he is willing to give up his spot on the team for the 2027 season, if it’s a girl this is a decision K.Zimmerman will have to make…Skip Metzger was visibly shaken after the 4th end, but after some self reflection and discussion with the team he is feeling better about the effort last night and expects a big game next Monday as just like the temperatures in Central Alberta, the team chemistry continues to heat up.
Alexander Keiths Around the Rink: Team More continued it’s dominance of the B side as they put in another solid effort en route to their 2nd consecutive victory since coming down from the A side after Christmas…The More brothers are attributing their success to the lucky shampoo they recently started using…On sheet 2 the Dufresne team played a strong game leading up to the final end, where they gave up multiple points along with the lead…Team Olson took advantage of the miscues and got the win as they continue to play well…Brad Dufresne suffered a minor fall in the 4th end of the game and never really was the same after that according to teammates and fans who watched the game…Team Otto aka ‘Jersey Guy’ carried his team to their first victory of the year with a convincing win over Team Jamieson on sheet 3, at last count the score was 7-1…Otto and his group scored early and often as the game was conceded after the 6th end and no one really knows what the final score was because it wasn’t put up on the board (good sportsmanship award goes to team Otto)…
