Alexander Keith's Hack Smack - A VERY, VERY HAPPY REUNION Date: (Wednesday, December 10, 2008)
Red Deer, AB– For the first time since November 10th the fab four aka the original members of Team Alexander Keith’s joined together to take part in Monday night mixed league action at the RDCC. Team Keith’s faced a difficult task of trying to make it 2 wins in a row against a much improved Team Otto aka Jersey Guy. Neither team could find a quarter for the ceremonial coin flip to start the game so a game of paper, rock, scissors was played to see who would shoot first. Team Keith’s lost the friendly game but started strong, stealing singles in the first and second ends. After putting up 4 points in the 5th end Team Keith’s turned on the cruise control to make it 2 wins in a row. Team Otto played with a shorthanded team and the lead and second were visibly tired having to sweep as much as they did. Skip Otto took note and conceded the game after 7 ends.
Alexander Keiths Speaks: Team Keith’s record improves to 2-4-1 and they’ve now put together an impressive 2 game winning streak… Third, G.Zimmerman was a healthy scratch the past two games, while Skip Metzger missed one game…Team management called up Nathan Fleck and RDCC manager Eldon Raab from the farm team…Team Keith’s collected its first win of the 08-09 season with the call-ups in the lineup…Prior to the game it was a Mexican fiesta at the Zimmerman residence as the team indulged in quesadilla’s and Mexican salad…Lead Dianna wanted to take part in shots of tequila to really get in the spirit but was nursing a hangover from her staff Christmas party the night before…She finished in the top 5 in the hula contest at the party for those keeping score at home…Skip Metzger introduced his version of the ‘chinese gift exchange’ following supper, it doesn’t include anything Chinese but if you eat ginga beef and chicky fly rice while playing the game this holiday season it should feel a little more ‘authentic’…Team Keith’s threw blue rocks in honor of the Conservative party who find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place given the recent threats of a coalition government…good luck Harper! A vapor trail was seen travelling behind Kim’s second shot of the 4th end, Skip Metzger feared for his life and used his cat like reflexes to save himself.
Alexander Keiths Around the Rink: On sheet 3 Team Metzger finally lost a game…Skip Joe has been leading a team of all-stars and up to last night they were the only unbeaten curling team remaining in the country this year…”I don’t know what to say? We just didn’t play well.” Said Skip Metzger to a plethora of media who cornered him in the post game lounge after the game…Rick Dore filled in for an absent Al Parada, Dore was seen handing out gum to fellow curlers during the game, perhaps he was focused more on people’s breathe than he was the game???...Team Shelly took on Team Dufresne on sheet 2 and at press time both teams were locked in what appeared to be a very intense game…Team Dufresne jumped out to an early lead only to have Team Shelly put up some points of their own to get back in it.
