Shots Made, Shots Missed…Another Lost Opportunity Date: (Wednesday, November 5, 2008)
Red Deer, AB – Monday night saw the Metzger rivalry renewed as for the first time this season the Joe versus Ryan, dad versus son, david versus goliath battle ensued. Team Ryan Metzger got out to an early 3-0 lead as steals of 1 and 2 in the first 2 ends got them
out of the gate early. Team Joe Metzger fought back against ice conditions and adversity to get on the board. Team Keith’s would score 4 points in the 6th end to take a commanding lead and looked to be on the verge of the teams first win on the season. But just as they did last week, team Keith’s would give up 4 points in the 7th end and eventually lose the game. R.Metzger said, ‘I don’t know what to say? I don’t know what to do? Last week I was upset, tonight I’m just disappointed. If this is what losing on a regular basis feels like I now know what it’s like to play for the New York Islanders.” Joe Metzger responded to his son’s disappointment by saying, “You guys made some good shots, you played well tonight. But you won’t many games if you keep giving up 4 points in the 7th end.”
Alexander Keiths Speaks:Team Keith’s record falls to 0-2-1 on the season...The team has now given up 4 points in the 7th end in 2 consecutive games…For the first time in RDCC Monday night mixed league history a time out was called…Skip Metzger looking for advice/confirmation on his final stone called upon RDCC Manager, Eldon Raab for some much needed advice…Raab was seen calling for the Timeout from his front row seat behind sheet 6…According to scalpers he purchased the front row seats on ebay prior to Monday night’s game (no word on the price of the ticket, but some are speculating it was $free.99)…Al Parada was a healthy scratch on the night, Rick Dore filled in and kept his unbeaten streak intact this year, going 5-0…For the right price Dore is available to any teams looking for a win…The pre-game gravy that Lead English made was ‘amazing, great, very good’ according to G.Zimmerman…Zimmerman was heard saying, ‘Is it wrong if I want to drink this gravy?’…Skip Metzger wore a red Keith’s hat during the game, it didn’t change the end result…G.Zimmerman used a stopwatch to gauge rock speed during the game, much to the chagrin of the ladies on the team… ‘ignore that silly watch and help us sweep’ they were heard saying on numerous occasions.
Alexander Keiths Around the Rink:Sheet 5 was a battle of Team Dufresne and Team RDC. It was Team RDC that would have the last laugh as they outscored the Dufresne rink as a handful of spectators watched from behind the glass…Jersey guy was back in business Monday night, having enjoyed his weekend as the Oilers broke their losing skid. However, Team Shelley would wipe the smile off jersey guys’ face with a hard fought victory…On sheet 7 the dentists were in tough to make it 2 wins in a row. After making threats of root canals and cleanings it is believed they came back to win but that couldn’t be confirmed in time for today’s print deadline…
