Team Keith’s made history Monday night, for all the wrong reasons. Up by 4 with one end to play the team couldn’t hold onto the lead and surrendered 4 points as the dentists drew even and tied the game at 7. After earning points in the first 3 frames and taking a commanding 5-0 lead Team Keith’s faltered somewhat and let their opponent back in the game. Unlike Stephen Harper and the Conservatives, Team Keith’s couldn’t finish off the opposition at the end of the day. “We had this game in the palm of our hands and didn’t seal the deal.” Said a disgruntled Skip Metzger, he added, “I’m upset, I’m disappointed, I’m angry, I’m rattled, I’m distraught, I’m so many emotions right now I kind of feel like a woman.” Lead English and 3rd K.Zimmerman tried to calm him down and looked for the silver lining, stealing from the popular Bobby McFerrin song the two of them were heard signing, “Don’t worry be happy” on their way upstairs to the post game lounge.
Alexander Keiths Speaks:Team Keith’s record drops to 0-1-1…BBQ burgers and Fiesta salad was the pregame meal of choice Monday night…Flames and smoke were seen billowing out of the Zimmerman BBQ as neighbours thought a smoke signal was being sent…Prior to the game team sponsor liaison, Joe Whitbread of Labatt’s hand delivered team jackets to the foursome (Very warm and comfortable, big thank you to Joe)…Skip Metzger did his good deed of the day, as he was seen picking up miscellaneous debris in the Zimmerman backyard following the wicked windstorm Saturday in Red Deer…Lead English and 3rd K.Zimmerman both started the game wearing gloves, but didn’t finish the game wearing gloves…The Kleenex dispenser between sheets 1 and 2 ran out during the game, teams resorted to using their sleeves (just kidding, this isn’t elementary school)…Post game conversation involved root canals, braces, basement dinner parties, christmas parties and the fact that a Monday Mixed team has a sponsor.
Alexander Keiths Around the rink: On sheet 3 Team Dufresne found themselves in an old fashioned barnburner, after scoring 5 in the 4th end to take a commanding 7-2 lead the team would fail to protect the 5 point advantage and had to come up with some big shots in the 8th end to preserve a 10-9 victory…Sheet 2 saw Team Shelly fighting hard to make it 2 wins in a row to start the season, but the team would come up on the short end of the broom and dropped to 1-1…Team Otto AKA Jersey guy was not in attendance on sheet 4, speculation is Otto was at home watching the Bruins/Oilers game, it ended in more bad news for Oilers fans as they lost their 4th game in a row…Only one member of the College team showed up and was seen taking lessons (or perhaps) giving lessons to RDCC manager, Eldon Raab. Perhaps Eldon wants to earn a spot on the 2010 Olympic team?
