SKIPS BEST GAME NOT GOOD ENOUGH Date: (Thursday, January 22, 2009)
Red Deer, AB – The losses keep piling up for Team Keith’s as the team is still trying for its first win of 2009. Monday night marked the first time in weeks the team has played a full 8 end game, but that only prolonged the inevitable as the team couldn’t score a point in the final end losing 9-6. Going into the last end down a point Skip Metzger wasn’t able to execute a plan that would see them steal a pair and get the victory. Metzger admitted at points during the game that it was his best game yet this year, “I’m throwing the rock really well. This is my best game this year. I feel good tonight, but not even close to how good Barack Obama will feel Tuesday when he’s sworn in.” After a slow start that saw the teams each take a single in the 1st and 3rd ends (with a blank end sandwiched in the middle) Team Keith’s scored 3 in the 4th only to relinquish the lead and give up 4 in the 5th. Team Keith’s start to the 2009 calendar year has been as rocky as the stock market of late as just when the team starts to be going in the right direction they take a step back.
Alexander Keiths Speaks:Team Keith’s record drops to 3-7-1 and the team has now lost 4 in a row…Third, K.Zimmerman sat out Monday’s game with what doctors are calling kidney pain, Kate filled in admirably for Kim in her second call up to the big club…K.Zimmerman is expected back in the lineup next week, as Kate has been sent back to the farm team for a conditioning stint…Lead D.English may have been feeling a little full last night after setting a personal best and eating 2 burgers prior to the game, ‘they were so good, I just had to have another one.’…In an effort to switch things up G.Zimmerman wore 2 different socks for the game, it didn’t help anything…Metzger offered up his skip position prior to the game, their were no takers…Post game drinks were enjoyed around round tables, survey says they are preferred over the rectangular tables…Jocelyn Metzger, sister to Ryan, was seen chugging her glass of wine following the game…
Alexander Keiths Around the Rink:The More team continued its dominance on the B side, winning handedly Monday night over Team Otto. Otto was trying to make it 2 wins in a row but was only able to put 1 point on the board as the More brothers put it in cruise control and paced themselves to a one sided victory after just 4 ends…Speculation is they were thirsty and just wanted to get to the lounge before everyone else…It is also reported that the More brothers will not be making their ‘special’ shampoo available to the public…Team Dufresne tried for another win on sheet 8 but came up on the wrong side of the score, Brad was able to stay on his feet for the game and did a solid job skipping based on team feedback at the end of the night…Sheet 6 saw the Hall and Pickering rinks play a fairly quiet affair that at last check ended in a bit of a blowout but reporters could not determine which team won and which team lost? One team played really well, putting up multiple points in multiple ends while the other couldn’t get the offence going and conceded the game before it got to 8 ends.
