An opportunity for everyone. From casual league play to competitive curling opportunities, we have it all.

Junior curling has grown into one of Alberta’s largest junior curling programs. Over 150 children enjoy the many benefits that our sport has to offer including the chance to participate in a fun, affordable, relaxed and supportive environment.

Lite Rocks - Wednesdays

Children 7-10 enjoy our infamous light rock program. That’s where the fun begins. Custom designed light weight stones make it easier and more enjoyable to throw. The Wednesday juniors draw time: 4:30pm-5:30pm. No experience necessary. Just a zest to learn and meet new friends.

Big Rock - Mondays

Big kids use big rocks. Every Monday from 4pm-7pm, over 100 children aged 11-19 get together for loads of fun. Enter as a team or enter as an individual. Players are tiered based on age and experience. Start times rotate between 4pm and 5:30pm. Free private instructional sessions are offered throughout the year. From beginners to Olympic Gold Medalists, Red Deer Junior Curling has a spot for you. Cost is $100.00.

Bonspiels

One of the finest aspects of junior curling is the opportunity to participate in the many wonderful weekend bonspiels offered throughout Alberta. This year, league organizers will encourage teams and individuals to branch out and enjoy these fun and incredibly affordable events. Can’t field a team? Then join up with others in the same boat. Watch for details.

Equipment

No equipment. No problems. While we encourage everyone to purchase their own brooms and slider, the Junior Program will provide used equipment at a modest cost to you. A refundable deposit is required

Get Involved

Parents help is key to the success of any minor sports organization and junior curling is no different. Parents are asked to take their fair turn at “supervising” these ambitious young kids. No experience or knowledge required. Coaching clinics held early in the year.

Fundraising

Fundraising is also a part of all youth programs. It helps to keep costs down. Every parent is expected to contribute in one form or another to our single fundraiser which is the 50/50 draw at the annual Oilmen’s bonspiel.

Registration

Curling begins in early October and runs to the middle of February. Register early as space is limited.
